Roddy Radiation of Coventry group Skabilly Rebels

Coventry's Roddy 'Radiation' Byers took time out of his busy schedule with the re-formed Specials to chat with BBC Coventry & Warwickshire Introducing.

However, it wasn't specifically about The Specials, but his other band the Skabilly Rebels.

The rockabilly-ska band released their debut album, Blues Attack, just before Christmas 2009.

Roddy spoke to presenter Martin Winch about the inspiration behind the band, the album and, of course, The Specials.

Rock and roll and ska

Speaking about the Skabilly Rebels and the band's music, Roddy said: "It's still that Clash cum punky cum rock and roll cum ska sound - with a touch of country. It's just songs, songs about real feelings and life."

They also talk about being asked to do personal appearances, going to America, playing in other Coventry bands - and how high you should set your guitar strap! You can hear the interview by clicking on the audio link on this page.
